Thank you for all your lovely comments on our big day!

I am waiting for the rest of the photos from the photographer so hopefully,
sometime next week I can put together a blog-post about the whole day.

It didn't rain! We got so lucky :o)

I am slowly getting back to the normal routine... meaning
we have to pack everything up and move to our new home!
Studio time will be a bit limited during the next couple
of weeks, because everything will be in boxes...

It feels strange not to have played with silver
and stones for about a month!
But my head is spinning with ideas...

butterflies

With some cardstock, ink and determination you
can make some very nice looking programs.
That and a creative man that knows how to sew.
Lisa is keeping an eye on David making sure he's doing it right

Who knew that grapevine balls, Norwegian moss and and little lights
could make such a lovely combination?
Well I did have a hunch...

They will be swinging from metal stands made by my talented fiancee..
I absolutely adore these.

I can't help but to brag about my talented David.
He is amazing. I am so very lucky to have him.
He sketched out the tree on the canvas and I
painted the tree with acrylic paint.

It will be a fingerprint guestbook tree.
Something to keep forever.
A piece of art made by family and friends.
It doesn't get much better than that!

We did all of this last night and even squeezed in
a dance practice outside under the stars.
He is a very good dancer...

11 days to go!
I think there is a dozen butterflies in my tummy today...

metal flowers and a whole lot of boxes

I stole a moment when David was cooking dinner last night.
Seared tuna with salad and couscous which was scrumptious.

I played with my bouquet again. It's hard to layer the flowers together.
Each flower is attached to a single stem to make it feel like a real bouquet.
I grouped them together. Looked at them. Took them apart..
Scratched my head. Grouped them together again.

It's getting closer to what I envisioned. Still not sure.
Maybe I am just over thinking it?
Stella says it's just fine.
She tried to taste one of the flowers when I looked away for a second.
I wonder what enamel flowers taste like...
probably not as good as the roses David gave me for Valentine's.
Those were munched on beyond recognition.

It's official. The wedding is taking over our home.

wedding weekend

Cake topper is well on it's way. I made little bugs out of sculpey.  :o)
Mine is the green one. David finally decided on blue for his.
He wants to be like avatar I think...  More photos of these in progress here

Did a mock up for the table settings to see how
it will look with the center pieces that David is making.
Pretty cool right?
We are gonna put little lights inside the sphere so it looks like fireflies.

I finally found some time to start working on all the
corsages and boutonnieres for the wedding party.
I am using some vintage brooches together with fabric flowers.
I love the white and green/blue one I am making for David.
It's divine... Swoon...

It's gonna have little leafs on the side and a ladybug.
I'll take photos for you when it's done so you can see for yourself.

So the whole weekend was devoted to wedding prep.
It went by way too fast. David has made a plexi notice board that
we've written our whole to-do-list on.
It's HUGE.

After working the whole weekend I got to cross off one thing on the list.
Humpf...

Hope you had a fantastic weekend too!

wedding wednesday's

sorry no pics this wednesday..

just more ramblings from a stressed out bride
David and I have been working on getting the invitations done as we were aiming to have them out by the end of this month. We want to make sure that we get replies back as soon as possible as the number of people we would like to invite is a lot bigger than what we can actually fit into our backyard...

What else.. oh yeah wedding cake. We're working on final sketches and then we need to order it ASAP! Been slacking a bit on that one...

...and then there's corsages for the bridesmaids... got to find clothes for David.. and his groomsmen... my wedding crown I've been working on... and the gym. I have to go to the gym more...

Can you tell I am a little stressed out?
I think I might put nova of love and nova designs on vacation as we get closer to the big day. I want to make sure I have time to do everything I need to and frankly it's really hard to fit day job and 3 shops into one busy brides life...

and I miss snuggling up with David and bury my nose in that warm spot behind his ear...

wedding wednesday's

I told you David is making something amazing for our wedding. He is building a backdrop for the ceremony. So he started this weekend and I am just letting him go nuts with it...

Here's the sketch he made on a receipt when we were out for dinner a couple of months ago.
Looks pretty amazing right?! We're gonna bring the indoor outdoors..

Out of all the things we're making for the wedding this is really the one thing that makes my heart sing. I can't wait to see it completed :o)

wedding wednesday's

Last Saturday it was finally time to go cake tasting! I had been looking forward to it for such a long time. I started looking for a bakery a while back. I needed someone who would be willing to make me a wedding cake covered in Marzipan instead of fondant..

Fondant taste like play-do or cardboard with sugar like a friend said :o)

Nothing that I want in my mouth on my wedding day. In Sweden there is a traditional cake covered on Marzipan called princess cake (you can get it at IKEA in their Swedish Food Market) and it is delicious. Marzipan is like almond paste (it's based on almond paste) but it's easier to shape and doesn't stick to your fingers. It's harder to work with than fondant because it's fresher and more natural. But let me tell you - it tastes GREAT!

So I found this bakery called Bredenbeck and it turns out they are not very far from us which is perfect. They promised me they could make my cake covered in Marzipan. So full of anticipation we headed over there for our scheduled tasting... but when we got there the salesperson told us that BTW they don't work with Marzipan. And I am embarrassed to say that I went straight into bitch mode. I mean I had been emailing back and forth with these people for months. They PROMISED!! I told her that if they couldn't work with it.. well then there was no point for us to taste their cakes. Period. She looked a little frazzled.. And said she was gonna go check witrh someone else at the bakery. 5 minutes later she came back and said it was just a missunderstanding and of course they could make it cobvered with marzipan. PHEW! All was well. I apologized for being short with her. :o)

Got got to try their raspberry swirl, pumpkin (which we both agreed wasn't gonna fit our spring/summer wedding), lemon and chocolate (I know there was more but I can't remember all the flavors!). With the marzipan you have to cover the cake with a fruit puree as opposed to fondant when you cover the cake with butter-cream. We picked a raspberry puree which was very tasty. David started assembling his own little samples by taking a piece of cake putting some raspberry puree on it and top if off with a piece of marzipan. Pretty tasty I must say. We really couldn't decide between the dark chocolate and the lemon one. So today we're getting to actual samples made up so we can get a better idea of the flavors together. I think I am partial to the lemon cake. The flavors were so fresh and perfect for a summer wedding!

The second part pf the tasting was talking about the vision for the cake. This is where it got really dicey. We had brought in a photo of a cake design that we liked. Which was originally a moderns ocean/wave theme. But we also brought in a plate that we found that had beautiful whimsical vines, paisley (not that we necessarily want paisley on the cake). But we figured if we could marry the two it would be the perfect expression for our outdoor, whimsical, romantic, forest fairytale wedding. David and I are both artists. Super picky, extremely difficult custom order customer. We know that. That's why we are doing about 90% of the wedding stuff ourselves.
We know we are crazy...

So as we are talking to the lady at the bakery we realized that we won't be able to just leave the design up the bakery. We HAVE to design it. We have to make a sketch for the cake decorator at the bakery to follow. Not that she isn't a fantastic decorator. It's just that we need the cake to look exactly like it does in our head...

David is fantastic at drawing so he started sketching out different versions of this whimsical forest, nature cake. The idea is that we are two kind of bugs on top of the cake and each tier has whimsical grass/ferns thingies. Very organic and flowing design. With small whimsical elements. The marzipan has kind of a beige color which will be the base of the cake.

We don't have one or two colors picked for the wedding. It's more of a feeling created by using a bunch of complimentary colors. The bridesmaid dresses are peridot. A paler sort of sage green. The center pieces have moss inside of them with the brown grapevine spheres. We will also have some sage table cloths (hanging out under cream/ivory top table cloth) and a bunch of those sage rice lamps/balls hanging from the ceiling of the tent. Lots of green in different but complimentary shades. For my bridesmaids I am also making fabric flower corsages/bracelets in the greens but I am also incorporating those dusty pink/plumes in the flowers so we thought it would be nice to have those colors somewhere on the cake as well. It's important that it has that forest moss green and that playfulness that we have throughout the wedding.

David's major is in sculpture so it makes sense that he would do the cake toppers.
I told you he is fantastic!

He's making two bugs. He said he was going to make me a wasp. Cause I have a curvy figure but I can be a bitch sometimes... ha ha we'll see what he does. I trust him! He did also say that he was going to be a walking stick... and I am not sure how I feel about being up there on the cake holding hands with a stick.. I think a part of me is terrified that he's actually gonna take a little branch and stick it to the cake LOL

I guess this is where I just have to let go and let him do his thing. He has never made anything I didn't like so I just have to let him play with it and we'll see where he lands. I have a feeling they'll be amazing. Just like he is...

and now it's studio time!

wedding shoes

I think I've landed on these..

I like the way they look with the open toe and they're also low heeled with is a must for me and my poor feet. I wish I could have beautiful high heels but I wouldn't last more than 5 minutes in shoes like that. Besides I'm getting married in the backyard so a stiletto would only get stuck in the grass! I hope that these heels will be ok though...

I ordered them online and they should arrive any day now! I needed to get a pair of shoes before the 5th, which is when I'm getting dress shopping with my friend Harsha! I'm so excited and nervous. I've been slacking with my p90x and put on a few more pounds during vacation but I am gonna do my best to shed some before next week.

I will of course have to add some details to them. I'm thinking some pretty flower shoe clips to spruce things up. I love wedding shoes that shows unique quirky details :o)

What are you up to this lovely Monday?

dreaming of wedding colors...

I know it's over a year away.. but I like to plan.. make lists... and be prepared... Did I mention that I am extremely organized? well I am.. You wouldn't think so if you saw all my clothes scattered across the bedroom.. completely covering my ab lounge I bought in a weak moment years ago (hey it works great for collecting your clothes...)

I found a seller named mollusa on Etsy that mades amazing cluthes. Her feedback score isn't the best but buyers only complaints was about slow shipping times and I figured I'd give her a chance since my wedding is so far away.. Plus she was the only seller on Etsy that made clutches that didn't feel like grandma or with big bows on them...

So tonight I put together this little color collection for her. I am going to mail it out tomorrow!
We're going for a romantic forest fairytale wedding. And we definitely want to have it outside! Yay! bugs and grass here I come :o)

I really like that silver green color (not sure what to call it... I know there are succulent plants with that color...) and blush pinks. I think they will work great for flowers and everything else. I couldn't commit to just one color so I am going for more of a "feeling" that I hope to convey with them. I;m trying to see if the colors are showing right on the photo but it's hard to tell from here... plus it's late.. past midnight..

Time to wake David up from the sleeping on the sofa and drag him to bed...

Goodnight! Thank you for stopping by
